This critical study is intended to help students who are studying the play Karnival by Francis Ebejer in preparation for the Advanced Level Maltese exam. It’s rare for us to sit and read a play. We usually prefer watching it performed in a theatre. However, while writing this study, I continually imagined the characters performing before me. I aimed to convey this same emotion to readers who will study, analyze, and ultimately interpret the play based on what the characters reveal to them.
